Native Mango Fruit of the Philippines

The so called "native mango" of the Philippines. Photo taken last summer, this April 2012. Mango fruit is known as the national fruit of the Philippines. And one kind of mango that is very known in the Philippines is  the "native mango". Native mangoes are most abundant during summer season in the Philippines, which is March and April. It can be picked up while it is still green, when its size from what I've observed is about 4 inches already. After picking, you can either eat it already (while it is still not ripe and sour in taste) with salt or "bagoong" (a shrimp paste or fish paste), or store it in any container and wait until it becomes yellow in color. Or when you see the mango fruit's base or the area near the stem starts to become yellow, then it is almost ripe or ripe already. When it is already ripe, you can now do anything with it, either slice and scoop it, or peel its skin and enjoy eating its sweet and sometimes with a litt

Philippine Cow

Give one name of an animal commonly used in farming in the Philippines?... I guess one of it would be a "cow". Cows are useful, because it helps a  farmer plow the soil before they start planting. The cow is eating dried corn plants. I took this photo while visiting some farms.

A place from north of the Philippines: Bangued, Abra (Part 1)

I've been gone for a while, but now I'm back with something new to share. I am currently staying in Bangued, Abra, Philippines, where mostly you can see rice fields and corn fields since farming is their people's way of life. While I am there, I took a chance of taking photos of everything or every sceneries that looks appealing or something unsual from where I came from. To start, here are some of it. A photo of a lady farmer pulling some unwanted plants in the rice field. What is unusual about this is the small white umbrella improvised to put on her head for her protection from the sun, and also so that she can use both of her hands in her work. A small barn.

Gardens Near Km"0"

If you are standing in front of Rizal Monument in Luneta, try to walk on the left side of it, then you will see some gardens that where built in relation of course with the Philippine history. First, the Chinese Garden Second, the Japanese Garden These two gardens are some of the places in the Luneta Park where people go to especially if they need some place to stay for past time to be with their family, friends and special someones.

Luneta - "Km.0"

There is a saying that "There's no other place like home". So for me, Philippines is where my home is, and this is where I want to start my "photoventure." To start it all, I went to Luneta or Rizal Park - it is where you can see the 0 km marker across the monument of Dr.Jose Rizal (Philippine's National Hero), and also serves as the point of origin to all other cities in the Philippines. It is located in the heart of the City of Manila, specifically near Roxas Boulevard and Manila Bay and United Nations Station in LRT 1 along Taft Avenue.
